4Play

It's another weekend of acting with this fabulous cast. Even though I'm staying up way past my bedtime it's been so much fun creating and playing. Here are a couple more reviews from TimeOut and Chicago Reader. And if you're in Chicago you can get your tickets here. I promise that you'll have a great time!

puerto rico: part two

The play opened on Thursday night to a sold out house and our first review is in. Breathing a sigh of relief! What a great experience I've already had and it's only the first weekend of a 5-week run. I'm so proud to be a part of such a talented group of actors. Now I can catch up on creating other things that make me happy like sharing the rest of our Puerto Rico trip.

We left Old San Juan on January 2 and drove about 2 1/2 hours to Cabo Rojo which is on the southwest side of Puerto Rico. This side of PR turned out to be our favorite part of the island- the beaches were beautiful and it had a relaxed, yet fun and local vibe. We rented an apartment through AirBnb and spent the next few days celebrating year five, lounging at the beach, reading, sampling the local cuisine and drinking the local drinks.

What I wouldn't give right now to be at the beach reading a book and sipping on a pina colada! Is winter over yet?

s(o)uper sunday!

Last Sunday, while most people were watching a football game, I was watching this and making a delicious pot of pumpkin and potato soup. As I was laughing at the antics of John Candy trying to out smart a couple of raccoons, I'd hear Ebert yelling at the TV from the other room. Periodically he would come into the kitchen to give me the highlights on the game or tell me about the commercials and I would feign interest. It was a perfect set-up.

Now lets get onto the recipe which I didn't follow exactly. If I were to estimate I think I probably tripled the amount of ingredients I used which was perfect because this huge pot of soup lasted us the whole week. I love making soups for this very reason, you don't have to follow the recipe you can change it as you see fit. I didn't have agave nectar so I used honey instead turning this into a non-vegan soup. Also, I didn't add any Sriracha. It was a bit too lemony for me so next time I'll start out using less and adding more if needed.

I decided that this soup needed a bit more color so I added finely chopped kale and a couple slices of cheddar/gruyere cheese to garnish on top. A little bit of greens was the perfect touch.

Happy Sunday! What are you cooking today?

february

Happy February! What a crazy, fun month January was. We started it out here, I've been in rehearsals for a play that opens in less than two weeks, and I booked my first print job. I should be able to share what the print job was in a few weeks.

2014…you're already my favorite!
